The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled. -- Plutarch
The California
Experience is a traveling multicultural program that
comes to your school to supplement your existing history and
social science curriculum with hands-on, interactive lessons
about California history.
For LESS than the cost off bussing a single class to a museum, we come to your school and provide all your students experiential lessons in the skills used by people in our past. Our trained, experienced docents provide students interactive experience in such areas as:
Lesson 1: A day In the Life of Father Serra
Lesson 2: How a Mission Blacksmith Fabricates
Iron Using a Covered Wagon Forge
Lesson 3: Making Adobe (hands on for all grades)
Lesson 4: Panning for "Real Fools Gold"
(hands on for all grades)
Lesson 5 How Women Spun and Wove Textiles.
Lesson 6 Making Rope (hands on for all grades).
The California Experience complements your curriculum to help ignite the imagination, curiosity, and comprehension of your students. You may select a single lesson for your student body to experience, or all six lessons.
